Dagaare (or Dagaree) is a language spoken by the Dagaaba people, primarily in the Upper West Region of Ghana, as well as parts of Burkina Faso. It is part of the larger Gur language family, which is a branch of the Niger-Congo language family. The Dagaare language has several dialects, with slight variations in pronunciation and vocabulary between regions. Dagaare is an essential language for communication, culture, and identity for the Dagaaba people, and it is widely spoken within their communities, with several hundred thousand speakers.

The Dagaare language is predominantly spoken in the Upper West Region of Ghana, especially in districts like Wa, Nadowli, and Jirapa. It is also spoken in neighboring parts of Burkina Faso, particularly in the northwest regions. In these areas, Dagaare serves as the primary language for daily communication, traditional practices, and local governance. Dagaare has different tones that can change the meaning of a word, which makes accurate translation important.
