English-Phuthi

Phuthi is a Southern Bantu language that is spoken primarily in the southeastern regions of South Africa, particularly in the Eastern Cape province. It belongs to the Nguni group of languages, which also includes Zulu, Xhosa, Swazi, and Ndebele. Phuthi has a relatively small number of speakers compared to its Nguni counterparts, with estimates suggesting that there are only a few thousand speakers remaining today. Historically, the Phuthi people were part of the larger Nguni-speaking group but have developed their own distinct language and cultural identity. The language is considered endangered, and efforts are being made to preserve it.

Phuthi is spoken mostly by the Phuthi people, who traditionally inhabited areas near the borders of South Africa and Lesotho. The Phuthi community is known for its distinct customs, and their language is a key part of their cultural heritage.
